In an ever changing world of technology, there's a continual ebb and flow in the demand for various skilled personnel. Many career areas including computer programming and nursing are among the fastest growing jobs out there. Of course, prior experience and a certificate or degree are perquisites for many jobs but some jobs now require a Masters Degree or beyond.

An increasing demand for individuals to have an extensive education has led to overcrowded classrooms and education of reduced quality. To counter this, many schools offer degree programs online. While in recent years online programs were doubted, today they are trusted by a majority of employers and the public. As they continue to expand into various disciplines, online schools are becoming the new alternative to education for adults in a busy world.

In response to the rapid growth of these careers as well as the ever more demanding requirements one must meet to obtain and keep these jobs, many online schools are developing programs to assist working adults with furthering and/or continuing their education. The United States Bureau of Labor Statistics published its job growth projections for the economy through 2014. While the BLS states that moderate job growth should occur across all specialties, certain professional, healthcare, and technical jobs will experience a higher demand for new talent. Five employment sectors have experienced to a greater demand for workers and more new job opportunities than any others in the economy. These careers are addressed below.

Engineering
Engineering, like most career sectors, is broken down into specialties. And all specialties are growing. In fact, an estimated 200,000 additional jobs will be created in the near future. Many new engineering jobs will be professional, scientific, and technical in nature. No matter what the specialty or the angle, all engineers are required to have at least a bachelor's degree. Additionally, most engineering jobs require some type of continuing education. In response, many schools are developing online engineering programs to meet the growing needs of engineers and employers.

Finance
A large part of business as a whole, the new job opportunities in finance are anticipated to grow by more than 20 million jobs. Many of these positions will be high level and entry level jobs. Many financial jobs require at least a bachelor's degree, but the educational demands for these jobs may go from training on the job all the way to graduate-level degrees. The healthcare career in highest demand is the Registered Nurse, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. To cope with this demand, schools offer now offer online programs including the Associate Degree in Nursing online (ADN), the Bachelor's Degree in Nursing online (BSN), and the Master's Degree in nursing online (MSN).

Information Technology
Closely following healthcare in job growth is information technology. While including publishing and telecommunications, a majority of these jobs will be internet-related. It's is expected that these jobs will grow faster than average, with technological advancements being a leading cause for the increase in jobs. Two information technology careers growing rapidly are software engineering and computer support specialist/systems administrator. Marketing
